The main reason I make art, I am now starting to believe in my late fifties, is to make sense of who I am and what I can do. Am I Ginika A ba Delibe or Glynis Ann Neslen, or a bit of both? I play the piano and compose as result of lessons paid for by Dr Barnardo’s and my mother, but document my life as my foster mother did using a box brownie camera. I paint and draw as I have always done, only now onto canvas and acid free paper; unlike as a child when I drew portraits of people using biros on discarded Christmas cards. Practising and thinking: devising plans as I make pottery, udu pots of peace, and other things composing my life and purpose in Hull and the world.
