John D. Petty

My work attempts to confront the contradiction between sitting on my backside all day or keeping my mind active. It is through my constant struggle with this contradiction that I hope not to become a vegetable and to find reasons, on nice days, to get out and feel the sun on my back.

I ‘do’ life drawing regularly, I also draw the landscape, especially along the river bank and most recently I am producing a series of large drawings featuring some of the Holderness village churches.
