I was born in East Yorks and am a Fine Art graduate having studied in Bradford and Hull Art Colleges. Until 2015, I lived in rural Teesdale and my work was largely figurative and inspired by the surrounding landscape.
Having returned to the East Riding and become a full time artist, I am now taking a more abstract and impressionistic direction. My work is still rooted in landscape, but now explores the environment from different perspectives, both in the physical and conceptual sense. I like to experiment with shape, form, colour and line to create images that are evocative of source but stand on their own.
The materials and techniques used naturally influence the finished work and I favour acrylic, oil pastel, graphite and water colour
