Assemblages and Installation

All his artworks are created from material found on our regions’ beaches. For Martin, this “detritus” has its own intrinsic beauty and intrigue, especially when it has been modified by the natural forces of saltwater, sunlight and sand. His work explores our transient and often throwaway relationship with objects and challenges societies disregard for the natural environment.
The objects were mostly gathered from one particular stretch of coastline, Spurn Head in the East Riding of Yorkshire, a fast eroding and disappearing peninsular.
