The paintings are a response to the environment in which I work, alone, as a gardener: vital, transient, contemplative – the flower is the iconic symbol for the cardinal processes of life and death, sexual union, re-birth and transformation and ultimately, recognition of the immutable, absolute still centre at the heart of constant fluctuation. I work in watercolour, gouache and acrylic.
