Kingston Art Group celebrated twenty years as an artistic community in the city of Hull last year. Since its creation in 1989 Kingston Art Group has provided affordable studio workspace for a great variety and number of visual artists of varying career status, outlook and practice, living and working in and around the city of Hull. It moved to its current premises, a former bakery, in 1992

Since then it has contributed to and initiated many important visual arts events in the city. The group has exhibited in many local and national venues with many strong links to regional and national studio groups and artists’ networks.

KAG Ltd. is the only organisation providing a group studio provision in Hull and the immediate area and has studios for fifteen artists. Its members have, as artists in their own right, established reputations through exhibitions and events locally, regionally, nationally and internationally at all levels.

When an artist joins Kingston Art Group they are able to contribute to the aims of the group and help plan for its future. All members of this ongoing and changing community recognise and commit to their role in shaping the organisation. KAG provides an important and immediate support network for any visual artist who joins. This enables informal and friendly artistic and professional development amongst peers.
The membership includes, and has included, those who are employed in the arts and other roles, the unemployed, overseas artists, students, artists returning to live and work in the area, and those wishing to develop artistically and professionally. As such Kingston Art Group has been and continues to be an important cultural presence in the city of Hull.
