Kingston Art Group warmly invites you to:

‘MY VILLAGE’ – paintings by Susan Beaulah

Preview 6-9pm Friday May 1st 2015

To welcome the summer months KAG is delighted to present a collection of landscape studies produced around the village of Wawne, where the artists’ relations have farmed for many years.

This collection of over thirty oil studies, all produced ‘in situ’, are close observations and personal responses rather than illustrative or topographical studies.  The fleeting nuances of light changing from early morning to dusk, the seasons, and the moods of the weather, all inspire Susan to paint.  She searches to find some special aspect of the landscape that excites her, then works rapidly to capture the unique moment before it changes.  Her portable wooden box easel (transported in a shopping trolley) is an essential part in providing an open air, working studio.

Susan is a professional landscape painter who has exhibited nationally and internationally.  She has undertaken many commissions including work for Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, The Taba Hilton Egypt, and the ‘Palm Court Jazz café’ in New Orleans.

For 12 years she spent much of her time in Kerala, India, making visual documentation of the life of the remote fishing communities, this work was collected in a major solo show at Abbott and Holder ltd, London, W1 and the University of Hull.

The exhibition is open Saturdays and Sundays from 12-4:30pm from Saturday 2nd May until Sunday 31st May 2015.
